“We believe war is incompatible with the teachings and example of Christ. We therefore
reject war as an instrument of national foreign policy. We oppose unilateral
first/preemptive strike actions and strategies on the part of any government. As disciples of
Christ, we are called to love our enemies, seek justice, and serve as reconcilers of conflict.
We insist that the first moral duty of all nations is to work together to resolve by peaceful
means every dispute that arises between or among them.” -Our Social Principles
Dear Friends,
This is an urgent call for you to remember the Ukrainian people in your daily prayers and
to immediately call on your congregations, friends, and families to do the same. Please
pray for strength and endurance for the Ukrainian people, along with the sure knowledge
that, even in such times, Christ is near.
Also pray for peace; a withdrawal of all Russian troops from Ukraine; an end to
bloodshed; continued Ukrainian independence and self-rule; and an end to Russian
adventuring. We are admonished by Jesus to pray for our enemies; therefore, please
pray for Vladmir Putin, that he may be enlightened.
Prayer is indeed powerful, and God is still in charge. In times like, these we must praise
God and—above all—trust him. Peace be with you.
