May 6 is the National Day of Prayer in the United States. The theme this year is “Lord, pour out your love, life, and liberty upon us.”
We access real power when we all pray together. Please lift your hands, your hearts, and your words to our gracious God on May 6 at 11:00 a.m. (ET), to pray for our country. Pray in whatever way is most meaningful and effective for you. Lift your praises and petitions to God, who may choose to reflect them back to us as blessings.
Let us pray:
Most Holy God – Father, Son, and Spirit – holy you are, and holy you will be. Your name is high above all names in heaven and on earth. We are but dust, here today and gone tomorrow, and yet you love us. We are sinful and violent, divisive and argumentative, and yet you love us and forgive us. Blessed be your most holy name.
Creator God, we await your gracious presence in our land – pour out your love upon us. Help us grow in Spirit and in Truth.
Redeemer, Lord Jesus, you are the Bread of Life. Pour out your life-giving grace upon us.
Holy Spirit, Advocate, Friend, where you are there is true liberty. Be among your people in this country, and teach us the real nature of freedom.
Holy One, Beloved, most Awesome God, thank you for all you give us. Let your love be the guiding spirit of our nation, let our life be the life of Christ, and let your liberty reign among all people, that equality and justice may prevail. In the most holy name of Christ we pray, Amen.
