“With so much pain and grief in the world, we ask ourselves what is our role as Christ-followers in moments like these? Blessed are the peacemakers.”

There will be no shortage of commentary following the guilty verdict. My prayer is that there be no shortage of commitment to equal justice for all. No shortage of prayers and passion for peaceful pursuit of beloved community. No shortage of community involvement so that reform will be embraced and trust enhanced. This was not an anti-police verdict (as one police chief commented) it was pro-life and pro-responsible policing.

A life cannot be restored but a lesson learned. May God bless those who serve and protect when no one is recording. May God bless the families and communities that are grieving. May we be peacemakers in Jesus’ name!
