Critical Conversations

The United Methodist Church is rich in Wesleyan heritage and traditions, and with that heritage comes a broad theological understanding of clergy and our laity. As we seek to be a church that is open to all and continues to speak relevantly to the world in which we serve, it is our commitment approach challenging issues as great opportunities and to lean into each other and to God to help guide us through critical conversations that help honor our past and make space for our future.

As United Methodists across the world deal with an evolving landscape of topics that impact the church including the work of the Commission on the Way Forward, the United Methodist Churches of Indiana value open conversation with each other.

We encourage all members of the United Methodist Church to be intentional in creating spaces for dialogue around difficult and divisive topics with grace, humility, and respect for the multitude of voices at the table, as well as those who are voiceless that we need to hear.
