Beverly Perry, the Conference Superintendent in the Southeast District, has announced her retirement, effective July 1, 2020. After serving over 33 years in pastoral ministry, Bishop Mike Coyner appointed Perry to her superintendent position 7 years ago, and she has served faithfully in the role ever since.

For her time served, Perry expressed gratitude. “Thank you for the joy and privilege of serving the Indiana Conference for 37 years. It was a blessing to serve alongside Bishop Coyner, Bishop Trimble, and my outstanding Extended Cabinet colleagues. It has been a true honor to serve the churches and pastors of the Southeast District these last seven years,” she said. “I look back fondly on 30 years of pastoral ministry in wonderful churches and great Indiana communities.”

Bishop Trimble expressed his appreciation for Perry and her service. “Bev Perry has been an incredible asset to our Conference. Her joy, encouragement, and heart for social justice issues will be deeply missed. We celebrate with her as she enters this next chapter during which her call continues.”

Perry received a Bachelor of Arts degree in religion from Greenville University. She then earned her Master of Divinity from Asbury Seminary. Perry was ordained Elder in 1985 and has served her entire ministry in the Indiana Conference (and its predecessor conferences).

As for her retirement plans, Perry looks forward to “the adventure of continuing to serve when and where God calls.” She also plans to spend many hours playing with her grandkids, who constantly keep her laughing.
