Rev. Crystal Jacobson was recently named Chair of the Commission on the Status and Role of Women (COSROW) for the Indiana Conference. COSROW is a standing commission that advocates for full and equal participation of women in the total life and mission of The United Methodist Church. Rev. Jacobson has high hopes for COSROW in Indiana to make way for inclusion and support of women leaders, as well as training and advocacy for sexual ethics training for clergy. Crystal has already begun her new position by seeking others to collaborate with her in visioning.
Rev. Jacobson serves Tanner Valley UMC in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. She was ordained in 2017 and has served as a pastor for 17 years. Crystal came to The United Methodist Church in 2008 after struggling to be treated as an equal in other denominations because of her gender. She found a home in the UMC family that stretched beyond doctrine to practices of support for the calls of women.
Crystal has been married to Nick Jacobson for 13 years, and they have two children. Lydia is in 7th grade and Zeke is in 5th grade.
