The Indiana Conference of The United Methodist Church Camping Ministry will be making significant staffing adjustments in order to keep the ministry financially viable.
It has been through the tremendous spending-reduction measures of the camping staff, the strong support of the Committee on Finance & Administration and Conference resources, as well as Payroll Protection Plan monies that camping ministry has been financially sustained to this point.
The Coronavirus-related financial losses in 2020, alongside the anticipated decline in revenue in 2021, has led to the reduction of our full and part-time staff.
Regrettably, the following senior-level camping positions have been eliminated, effective immediately:
Senior Manager of Operations – Shane Hartman
Senior Manager of Children and Family Ministries – Angie McClurg
Senior Manager of Student and Special Needs Ministries – Ryan Gernand
All of these senior managers have served with excellence in our Conference. This decision is in no way a reflection on the caliber of their work. We have been privileged to work alongside each of them for many years.
These reductions follow previous reductions including ministry-wide salary reductions, furloughing of 15 part-time staff and elimination of more than 45 seasonal positions.
We are so grateful for each of these individuals and their many years of service to the Indiana Conference. Please join us in wishing them well and praying for them and their families as they transition to what God has for them next.
