For the last 4 years, Tom Heaton has served the Indiana Conference as the Associate Director of Mission and Justice. As of October 16, he will be taking a voluntary leave of absence from ministry, as he has accepted a role as Director of Business Development for Kahn, Dees, Donovan & Kahn, an Evansville-based law firm.
Tom is leaving the Conference on excellent terms. He has long considered Evansville “home,” and this puts him in closer proximity to his son, Manny (Manuel).
“Tom brought enthusiasm and a keen sense of seeing all people,” said Bishop Julius Trimble. “We will miss him and wish him well in his new position.”
According to Tom, “I am grateful for all that the United Methodist Churches of Indiana has done for me over my past 25 years of ministry. I am grateful for the love and support I have received in the local church, for my work with Mission Guatemala, and my work on the Conference staff. I will continue to do all the good that I can in the days and years ahead.”
Prior to his Associate Director position at the Conference, he was founder and executive director of Mission Guatemala 2008-2017, a non-profit organization supported by many of our Indiana Conference churches.
Please join us in wishing Tom well in his new endeavor. You can contact him at tom.heaton@inumc.org.
