The churches in Indianapolis that hold monthly Taize services will combine forces to present their annual Citywide Taize Service on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 5 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 3243 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis. In addition to Trinity Episcopal, North United Methodist Church and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church are the churches sponsoring the service, which is entitled “Caring for God’s Creation.”
Taize worship involves sung and chanted prayers, meditation, periods of silence, liturgical readings, and icons as practiced at Taize, a monastic community in France founded in the 1940s. Internationally recognized, the community and its worship have an ecumenical focus on being a sign of reconciliation between separated peoples.
