Navigating Our Wilderness: Managing Transitions as a Pastor in a Pandemic – Part 2
This has been a very difficult season of the Pandemic. Navigating unchartered territory as a pastor has been challenging and demanding – but necessary. This workshop (based on the book Managing Transitions by William Bridges) offers a paradigm for our leadership role in this ongoing era of transition. Now, transition is different from change. Transition is the psychological process people go through to come to terms with the new situation or change.
So, transition is a process that starts with the ending, then uses the neutral zone (wilderness) creatively to embrace a new identity, which then allows the launching of a new beginning. The workshop will use the example of Moses leading the people of God from Egypt, through the Wilderness, to the Promised Land. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of transitions, as well as strategies to better manage this transition.
Reverend Doug Anderson, Associate Director of Church Development, will facilitate an interactive workshop for pastors which will be held in 2 sessions of two hours each on October 6 and 13, 2021 (10 AM – noon EST, 9 – 11 AM CST). Attendance at both sessions is required. Registration is limited to 40 participants. Since the format will be interactive on Zoom, with breakout rooms for discussion, it will allow ample opportunity for sharing, questions, and discussion for engagement and learning.
Cost is $10 per person. Participating pastors will be able to receive a copy of the sessions to share with their congregations. The deadline for registration is 11:59 PM on 9/30/21.
