JAMES E. BASTAIN of Jasonville, Ind., 91, a retired Elder of the Indiana Conference, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at Terre Haute. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 20, at the Cox Funeral Home, 218 South Meridian Street in Jasonville, Ind. and noon until memorial service at the Nine Mile United Methodist Church, 300 N 960, W. Nine Mile Road, southeast of Linton, Ind. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Nine Mile United Methodist Church with Pastor John Pierce officiating and interment at K of P Cemetery in Hymera. Survivors include: his wife, Berniece (Blanton) Bastain of Jasonville; son and daughter-in-law, James E. and Margaret (Spaar) Bastain II of Indianapolis; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He served Indiana churches at Glenburn, Nine Mile, Solsberry, Greene County Chapel, Walker Chapel along with three small churches, Cloverdale, Putnamville, Rose Chapel, Carlisle and retired from Versailles, Tyson Memorial where he served his final 10 years before retiring in 1985.
