VERNER GLEN BECK, 87, retired Elder of the Indiana Conference and father of the Rev. Michael Ray Beck, Elder of the Indiana Conference on disability leave, died Sunday, Dec.12, 2010 after 52 years of ministry in The United Methodist Church. At the time of his death, he was minister of pastoral care at Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin. Visitation will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 1300 E. Adams Drive in Franklin from 3 to 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 15. A memorial service will follow at 7:30 p.m. with the Revs. Robert Coleman, Andy Kinsey and James Gentry officiating. A graveside service will be held at the Everton Cemetery, located five miles southeast of Everton, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16. Survivors include: his wife, Mary Myrna (Kidd) Beck; a brother, Carroll (Jane) Beck; four children, Linda (Beck) Quick, the Rev. Michael (Mickey) Beck, Elder, Mark (Nancy) Beck and Keith Beck; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 1300 E. Adams Drive, Franklin IN 46131 to be used for the building of “The Glen and Myrna Beck Guest House” in Kigoma, Tanzania in connection with the mission work of Lowell and Claudia Wertz.
