MEREDITH ANN (MERRY) BEERY, 65, the wife of Jim Beery, a member of Oaktown UMC and lay pastor of Merom United Methodist Church in Sullivan County, died in a car accident on SR 63 at Harlan Road in Vigo County on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 27 at North Knox High School in the gymnasium, 10890 SR 159, Bicknell, Ind.‎ from 4 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the North Knox High School auditorium at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28 with the Rev. Paul Gettinger and Pastor Erich Blevins officiating. Burial will be in Morris Chapel Cemetery. She was a retired school teacher having taught at Oaktown Elementary School and Clark Middle School for 30 years. Jim Beery also teaches. Survivors include: her husband, Jim Beery; mother, Peg Hyneman of Hazleton; a son, Daniel Beery of Philadelphia, who won a gold medal in the 2004 Olympics in Athens as part of the 8-member U.S. mens rowing team; two daughters, Marsha Ann Jones of OFallon, Mo., and Meredith Miller of New Albany; and four grandchildren.
