EVELYN TAYLOR HANEY, 73, of Akron, IN, retired Elder, passed away on June 3, 2022.

A celebration of Evelyn’s life will take place at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2022, at the Beaver Dam United Methodist Church, 9798 W 1000 S, Akron, IN. The interment will take place following the service in the Akron Cemetery. Memorial visitation hours will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2022, at the Beaver Dam United Methodist Church, 9798 W 1000 S, Akron, IN.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Kevin; daughter, Rachael (Redfox) Bain-Chase; son, Tedd (Sarah) Grain; daughter, Nani (Jack) Cain-Hergenroether; stepsons, Orville Haney, Barney (Molly) Haney, and Jeremiah (Rachel) Haney; fourteen grandchildren, Gabriella, Katya, Keith, Claire, Levi, Idalina, Stella, Luca, Lyle, Lena, Hank, Hattie Pearl, Ruby Lynn, and Henry; sisters, Bettie (Rev. Ovid) Need, Julia (Rev. Will) Gaines, Suzan (Rev. Herb) Codington, Rebecca de Oliveira; brother, Theodore (Wanderléia) Taylor Jr.; sister-in-law, Kathy (Scott) Leman; and mother-in-law, Julia Haney.

For a memorial, Evelyn’s dear friend Jane Blackburn runs a fund in Northeast Brazil that helps local young adults pay for schooling to be ministers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Contributions may be made out to Jane M Blackburn.

Evelyn served Weaver Chapel UMC (’92-’93); Beaver Dam UMC (’95-’97); Gary Marquette Park UMC (’97-’98); and Claypool UMC (’07-’12). She also served as a missionary in Recife, Brazil.
