JAMES H. THOMPSON, 84, of Shelburn and father-in-law of the Rev. Robert J. Walters, president of Friendly Planet Missiology; grandfather of the Rev. Taylor Walters Denyer, executive director of Friendly Planet Missiology (both are clergy members of the Indiana Conference); and father of Teri Walters (wife of Robert Walters), died Monday, July 5, 2010. Thompson was a retired pipefitter for Pfizer Inc., a World War II Marine Corps veteran and a leader in the Shelburn United Methodist Church. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, July 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McHugh Mattox Funeral Home, 205 North Washington Street in Shelburn, Ind. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 10 at the Shelburn UMC, 202 North Thomas Street in Shelburn with the Revs. Carolyn Clark, Richard Ellis and Robert Walters officiating. Interment will be in Little Flock Cemetery. Survivors include: his wife of 57 years, Lois Hill Thompson; one daughter, Teresa “Teri” Walters of Plainfield; two grandchildren; Taylor Walters Denyer of Lusaka, Zambia and Robert James Walters of Plainfield.
