The Indiana Conference is hosting a best practices for church management workshop. The event will open at 9:30 AM ET for registration and should be finished by 2:00 PM ET. The following topics will be covered:

  • Finance – Best financial practices for churches
  • Pastors – W2 preparation
  • Trustees – Trustee information and building responsibilities
  • Human Resources – Managing employee relations
  • Risk Management – Security and loss prevention

There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. Training materials and lunch will be provided. Please register by November 12 at 11:59 PM.

WORKSHOPS

Finance: Heidi Harding, Indiana Conference Associate Director of Financial Services, will lead this workshop. Geared towards treasurers, the session is an overview of basic finance functions and best practices. Additionally, she will talk about preparing the pastor’s W-2 at year-end.

Trustees: Ian Hall, INUMC Director of Financial and Administrative Services, will talk about the role of the Board of Trustees, the Trust Clause, Incorporation and the Single Board Model.

Kathy Mitchell, Associate Director of Administrative Services, will discuss how the new FSLA overtime rule may impact churches and staff on payroll.

Risk Management: Charlie Rownd, Associate Director of Financial Services-Risk Management, will discuss church safety and security. This topic will focus on building security, emergency response, crisis plan formulation and other relevant matters that face our churches today.

  • 12:00-12:30 – lunch (box lunches provided)
  • 12:30- 1:15 – Human Resources and new FLSA rules
  • 1:15-2:00 – Risk Management, followed by time for questions and answers
