Lucille Raines Residence

Owned and operated by United Methodist Women of Indiana, many of the men and women, who are residents, are actively engaged in rebuilding their lives from substance abuse. They all share in learning to function independently and as whole people in life. Many are finding Christ to be the source of successful recovery.

How are costs covered?

Rent received from those living at Lucille Raines Residence provides approximately half the cost of the program. United Methodist Women in Indiana provide monthly support. Additional funds are received through Conference Advance Specials. United Methodists can give to Lucille Raines Residence through their congregation or directly to the Residence, which is a 501 (c) 3 corporation; all contributions are tax deductible.

The basis of the self-help program is a daily inventory of defects in character and the sharing of these defects with another person. It is suggested that a part of each day be set aside for meditation and prayer — the end result being that one learns to turn his/her life over to God day-by-day. The support that grows out of the sharing forms the community that is the backbone of the program and becomes the strength which enables recovery to occur.

We accept clients through referrals from local counseling services.

Contributions that count!

  1. Churches may support Lucille Raines Residence with Advance Special Giving.
  2. If you are looking for a special project you might consider an undesignated gift, to be used as needed.
  3. Remember to send in the $10.00 per United Methodist Women member per year “asking” to the District Treasurer for the support of Lucille Raines.

Your monetary gift to Lucille Raines is tax deductible. United Methodist Women have carried this mission for many years. Now more than ever, as costs continue to rise, keep in mind that as well as the donations coming from the church groups all over Indiana, businesses can be a part of this project. You can also arrange to have gifts donated in your honor for anniversaries or other special occasions. Remember, memorials are gifts that keep on giving.

Fundraiser Items for Sale

Each year the sale of Lucinda Pins continue to be a great source of extra funding that subsidizes the Lucille Raines Residence’s budget.  Lucinda Pins is a cause-related business dedicated to creating affordable jewelry of the highest quality for the purpose of bringing much-needed financial help to non-profit organizations and their causes. If you and your United Methodist group would like to be a part of this fundraiser, contact Pat Hoover at 574.223.5533 or email her at gphoover@rtcol.com.

Another fund-raising venture is the “Gift to Raines Cards.” This is a great way to remember or honor someone special. The selection of cards includes Birthday, Sympathy, Thinking of You and Christmas Cards. The cards are free for the asking and a donation of at least $5 is requested as a gift to the Raines Residence.  The greeting card portion is sent to the person you want to recognize or celebrate, and then you send the tear-off portion with your monetary gift directly to Raines in the self-addressed envelope.  Contact Laura Smith at 765.649.7204 or email her at drlarrysmith@comcast.net.
