DePauw University’s “East College” Building, located in the center of the campus, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Located at 400 S. Locust Street,it is one of the Midwest’s oldest educational buildings still in active use, and one of the best examples of late-19th century architecture.
Throughout its floors, the building is a treasure-trove of memorabilia related to the history of Indiana Asbury University (DePauw) and early Methodism in Indiana. Its auditorium, Meharry Hall, displays portraits of Founder Bishop Robert R. Roberts, first President, Bishop Matthew Simpson, and other presidents, including several who were elevated to the episcopacy. GPS: 39 38 25.39, -086 51 42.02
