The turn-off to Moneto Campground and Retreat Center is located on State Road 46, approximately 5.8 miles east of Nashville.

Moneto means “Spirit of God” in the Delaware Indian Language.

Camp Moneto was purchased in 1968. The original site consisted of six hundred acres. Forty acres were added later, and a purchase of eighty acres in the late 1990’s brought the camp’s total to 720 acres.

The TaKaMoKe lodge was built in 1975 and provided the first year-round retreat facility. Four rustic cabins were also added to the property in the late 1970’s. In 1992 the Upper and Lower Retreat Centers were built. A large program pavilion was also added in the 1990’s. The outpost area of Camp Moneto consists of a large shelter house and five rustic campsites equipped with a shelter house and two hogan-style tent platforms.

In 2001 Camp Moneto received a Lilly Endowment Grant. This allowed the addition of the Sabbatical Inn (a motel-style facility with private sleeping accommodations and ensuite bathrooms), the construction of two new bathhouses, and the installation of a low ropes course and climbing wall.
