FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Indianapolis — Bishop Julius C. Trimble is pleased to announce the appointment of Rev. Dr. Aleze Fulbright to serve as Conference Superintendent serving the East District. She succeeds Rev. David Byrum, who retires June 30, 2018.
Fulbright brings with her vast expertise in leadership where she currently serves as the Director of Leadership Development for the Indiana Conference. Her passion for encouraging, equipping, and empowering people to harness their purpose through their God-giveness, has been demonstrated throughout her time in both the Indiana Conference and The United Methodist Church.
“Rev. Dr. Aleze Fulbright has demonstrated excellence in leadership in the Indiana Conference through her tenure as Director of Leadership Development, for which I am grateful. She has proven to be a committed and collaborative partner with our laity and clergy. She will bring a bold and courageous spirit along with her strong passion for encouraging emerging leaders to her work as a Conference Superintendent,” said Trimble.
Previously, she served as Associate Director for the Center of Leadership Development in the North Texas Conference of The United Methodist Church, Associate Pastor of First United Methodist Church Commerce, and Campus Minister of Wesleyan Campus Ministries at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
“I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve as a Conference Superintendent, assigned to the East District,” said Fulbright. She continued, “I am looking forward to joining in the movement, and building on the collaborative ministry of lay and clergy members, as we engage in life-giving changes for Jesus Christ while leading the charge in the East District to make an impact for the witness of Christ.”
Fulbright’s wealth of knowledge includes a Certificate in Nonprofit Executive Leadership from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, a Doctorate of Ministry in Pastoral Leadership from Houston Graduate School of Theology, a Certificate in Executive Leadership from Southern Methodist University, and Master of Divinity from Texas Christian University. She is also a Certified Coach and Consultant for Birkman International, an Associate Certified Coach Candidate for International Coaching Federation, and certified in Meditation Skills from the Lombard Mennonite Peace Center.
Beyond her context of professional ministry, Fulbright serves on the Inclusion and Diversity Committee for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Central Indiana, the Board of Bethany Fellows, and the Spiritual Oversight Committee for the Midwestern Region of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.
Fulbright’s greatest joy is her son, Myron Fisher Jr, who is a Senior at Southwestern College and will graduate in May 2018 with a degree in Secondary Education: Mid-level Math, with minors in Psychology and Leadership. Her favorite scripture is Romans 8:28, “We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” (NRSV). Her guilty pleasures include shopping for shoes, dark chocolate, and binge-watching Netflix.
