Bishop Trimble announces new staff alignment, director connectional ministries

INDIANAPOLIS – Bishop Julius C. Trimble has announced that after a thorough process of prayer and discernment, a new direction for the staff alignment in the Indiana Conference is ahead of us.

The recent vacancy in the Director of Connectional Ministries position led Bishop Trimble to conduct conversations with Conference leaders and staff to discern the most fruitful and efficient way to align the mission and ministry of the Indiana Conference into the next quadrennium. The desired outcome was to clarify and streamline so that Conference staffing can serve the mission of the Conference to “make disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the world by equipping its churches for ministry and providing a connection for ministry beyond the local church.”

Therefore, the positions of the Executive Assistant to the Bishop and the Director of Connectional Ministries will be combined into a dual role. The position of the Executive Assistant to the Bishop will not change in its primary functions, but will add to it the responsibilities and oversight of the work of our Conference associate directors leading Connectional Ministries. This new alignment of staff will help support the Four Areas of Focus of The United Methodist Church:

– Engaging in Ministry with the Poor

– Improving Global Health

– Developing Principled Christian Leaders

– Creating New and Renewed Congregations

The new alignment also helps our staff remain committed to the mission, vision, and values of the Indiana Conference.

In light of this change in staffing alignment, Bishop Trimble announces that he has appointed the Rev. Dr. CynthiaReynolds to serve the position of Executive Assistant to the Bishop and Director of Connectional Ministries for the Indiana Conference.

In making the appointment, the bishop praised Reynolds' leadership skills, integrity, commitment to the faith, and strong love for the global United Methodist Church, as well as her love for the more than 1,100 local churches of the Indiana Conference.
