On Monday, March 26, the Extended Cabinet, along with Conference Center staff devoted time and energy to our focus of exploring new and unique ways to be more missional throughout our communities, by working a shift at Gleaners Food Bank and distribution center on the southside of Indianapolis.
Gleaners is recognized as one of the more robust food assistance services and continue to live up to its mission of leading the fight against hunger throughout Indianapolis. The food bank collaborates with and distributes food to 21 partner agencies, which include local food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters. Through its network of 600 hunger relief agencies and partners, Gleaners has helped serve more than 260,000 people in Indiana Communities. A large number of which are children and seniors.
Staff lent their skills and strength to sorting, organizing, packing, and assessing the quality of nearly 10,000 pounds of food items that will be shared with families in need.
