The Indiana Conference staff kicked off their Labor Day weekend by engaging in a volunteer opportunity known to feed hundreds throughout the Indianapolis community. The staff packed over 200 sack lunches, which included sandwiches, cookies, chips, and fruit, during their midday shift at Roberts Park UMC Soup’s On outreach ministry, in the heart of Downtown Indy. This is an outreach ministry the church has maintained for quite some time, feeding up to 300 people during major holidays, in addition to their weekly volunteer-run food ministry which serves hot meals to those in need.
The conference center staff had a great time getting to work as a team in a unique setting, while working side by side with Soup’s On Director Brett Hulse and his father, Mike, and even getting the rare opportunity to see one another in hair nets!
At the end of the volunteer opportunity, the staff was blessed with an exclusive tour of the beautiful Roberts Park Chapel by the choir and long-time member, Jason Fishburn-Grooten, who is also the Relationship Manager at United Methodist Financial Credit Union.
