During the Service of Remembrance we paused to remember those who have faithfully labored with us but are no longer in our midst. While the names were read family members of the deceased stood in their honor as each name and photo appeared on the conference screen. A candle on stage was also lit in their memory.
Great is Thy Faithfulness
The focus of the sermon preached by the Rev. Dr. Aleze Fulbright was “Great is Thy Faithfulness.” Fulbright honored the memory of the deceased saying, “the word Faithfulness means firmness, fidelity, steadiness, steadfastness. I believe these are the words that characterize these women and men, laity and clergy, in whom we honor.”
Fulbright also shared these words from Henri Nowen, “Our faithfulness to a small task is the most healing response to the illness of our time,” relating our faithfulness to the tasks God has set before us to the hope we have in the God we serve.
Ending, Fulbright reminded us that, “Our faithfulness today is the legacy for the next generation.”
The service concluded with a time of Holy Communion.
