COLUMBUS, Ohio: Applications for media credentials for the United Methodist Women Assembly 2018 are now being accepted.
Every four years, women from around the globe gather in worship, to be inspired by incredible keynote speakers, participate in workshops, and learn to mobilize to make a difference in their communities. The event will take place May 18-20 in Columbus, Ohio and draw close to 8,000 women.
The theme for Assembly is “The Power of Bold.” The event will mark the official celebration of the organization’s 150th anniversary and will also be a return to the location of the first Assembly in 1942 in Columbus, Ohio. Keynote speakers for the event include Michelle Alexander, author of The New Jim Crow; Leymah Gbowee, Nobel Laureate; Katharine Hayhoe, National Geographic host and climate scientist; Marian Wright Edelman, Children’s Defense Fund; Tamika Mallory, Women’s Rights Activist; Linda Sarsour, Women’s Rights activist; and Hannah Bonner, filmmaker.
News media are required to be credentialed in order to gain access to the newsroom, media seating on the main plenary floor, and press conferences and news briefings involving keynotes and church leaders.
