“I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us.” -John 17:20-21

Creator God, Redeeming Son, Sustaining Spirit, thank you for your beloved presence in our lives. We thank you that we have a family and a purpose in living through your Church.

Lord, make us one in you – we who believe.

Take away all divisions as we focus on the light of your face, the light of your love.

Show us the way ahead in this time of uncertainty and unbelief, that we may move as one toward the Kingdom of God where only your will is done.

Father, there are divisions within our church and within the Church universal, that distract us from following the Way. Should we immerse or sprinkle? Should we depend on your providence when in need or take the agency your freedom offers? Should we bless all people or only those who follow your ordinances? Father, we love you, and each strive to please you. We are, like Martha, worried and distracted by many things; but only one thing is necessary, our faith in you. This is the better way.

Unite us in prayer. Unite us in love. Unite us in seeking to do your will. Inspire us, that each may carry the burden of his brother and sister. Strengthen us to build your Kingdom. We can do all things in you, especially when we do them together. Amen.
